University Lake Park

Off leash on the designated trails, but swimming is banned to protect nesting birds and beavers, the Municipality warns beavers can be extremely aggressive in mating season, and trails can close seasonally with posted notice. A dog that only recalls when nothing interesting is happening will fail here.

Far North Bicentennial Park, North Gasline Trail

Anchorage's largest park and the off leash trail inside it. It is also genuine moose and bear country, which makes a reliable recall a safety tool rather than a party trick.

Connors Bog

An unfenced designated off leash area, so the boundary is legal rather than physical. Nothing stops a dog leaving except its training.

Chanshtnu Muldoon Dog Park

Fenced with a separate small dog enclosure, which makes it the sane first venue for a dog still learning to hold attention around other dogs.

Control required at all times in public. A leash or equivalent physical restraint held by someone able to monitor and direct the dog. Voice and visual control counts only where the activity requires no restraint, the place is appropriate, and public impact is minimized.

Designated areas only. Fenced at Arctic Benson, Chanshtnu Muldoon, South Anchorage Sports Park, Valley of the Moon and Whisper Faith Kovach. Unfenced at Connors Bog and Russian Jack Springs. Trail based on the North Gasline Trail in Far North Bicentennial Park and at University Lake Park.
